On 20th April, Professor Peter Strike, Vice Chancellor of University of Cumbria, Marion Yates, Head of International Department, and Signy Henderson, Deputy Dean, visited our University.

In the morning, Professor Chen Yongping, President of Suzhou University of Science and Technology(SUST), accompanied by Professor Huang Yong, Deputy Party Secretary and Ms. Wu Huifang, Director of International office , met Professor Peter Strike and other members at foreign reception room. The two sides held a conversation in friendly atmosphere. Professor Chen Yongping extended a warm welcome to the delegates and briefly introduced our university. After simply reviewing the history of cooperation between two universities, Professor Chen Yongping expressed his willingness to expand cooperation and communication with University of Cumbria. After the conversation, Professor Huang Yong accompanied the delegates of University of Cumbria to the exhibition of our university’s history and art exhibition in library.

In the afternoon, Marion Yates, Head of International Department, held a project introduction meeting for students of School of Foreign Languages. After the meeting, representatives of School of Foreign Languages and the delegates of University of Cumbria have a profound discussion on how to strengthen existing projects and explore new ones.

Cooperation between two universities started in 2012. Since March 2013, 21 students of our university have taken part in the programs between the two universities, including short-term study abroad programs, summer school and postgraduate programs.
